Chetwynd has a population of approx. 2,591 people and elevation of 615 m or 2,017 feet and is close to some beautiful lakes including Moberly Lake, Gwillim Lake, Dinosaur Lake, Williston Lake and several smaller lakes. Also, the Pine River, Sukunka River, Murray River and the mighty Peace River. Attractions include the Peace Canyon Dam, the A.C. Bennett Dam which is one of the worlds largest earth filled dams.  Outdoor recreation includes hiking, mountain biking, fishing, boating,  golfing, swimming, crosscountry skiing, snowmobiling and more...

Chetwynd offers a variety of chainsaw carvings that are nature focussed. This theme reflects the wild nature of the area which includes owls, eagles, bears, goldpanners ... a walking tour you don't want to miss. Powder King Ski Hill is famous for lots of deep powder snow and for you to enjoy beautiful views of the Rocky Mountains approx 1.5 hours drive from Chetwynd.
